Responsibilities
- Perform Routine Maintenance: Execute daily tasks including pothole repair, pavement marking, and traffic signal maintenance to ensure optimal road conditions.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy machinery such as backhoes, dump trucks, and excavators in accordance with OSHA and City safety protocols.
- Infrastructure Repair: Diagnose and repair water mains, sewer lines, and storm drains to prevent service interruptions and flooding.
- Inspection & Compliance: Conduct visual inspections of public infrastructure to identify hazards and ensure compliance with local and federal codes.
- Emergency Response: Respond rapidly to weather-related events and emergency service calls to restore essential city services.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of work performed, materials used, and equipment status.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in public works, construction, or heavy equipment operation preferred.
- Licensure: Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is highly desirable.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently, work in various weather conditions, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, basic math, and operating hand and power tools.
- Background: Ability to pass a standard background check and drug screen.
