Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all official municipal records, council minutes, and legislative documents
- Oversee public record requests with rigorous compliance protocols and timely responses
- Coordinate city elections including ballot preparation, voter education, and certification
- Develop and implement digital record management systems for enhanced accessibility
- Provide expert guidance to city departments on records retention and legal requirements
- Lead public-facing initiatives promoting civic transparency and community engagement
- Ensure compliance with state RCW and municipal charter requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5 years municipal records management or government experience
- Advanced knowledge of Washington State public records laws (RCW 42.56)
- Proficiency in digital records management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Experience managing election processes and voter registration systems
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail with zero-error documentation standards
- Strong interpersonal skills for public-facing communications and training
