Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Clerk’s Office, ensuring the accurate management of official city records, ordinances, resolutions, and meeting minutes.
- Prepare, distribute, and archive meeting agendas, minutes, and reports for the City Council, Boards, and Commissions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for citizens, visitors, and stakeholders regarding public records requests and general inquiries.
- Ensure strict compliance with state and local laws, specifically the Texas Open Records Act and Robert's Rules of Order.
- Supervise and mentor staff members, conducting performance evaluations and providing training on office procedures.
- Coordinate logistics for official city events, council meetings, and public hearings.
- Maintain the City Code of Ordinances and ensure all official documents are current and accessible.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government, administrative support, or a related field.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with record management software.
- Strong working knowledge of the Texas Open Records Act and parliamentary procedure.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
