Responsibilities
- Oversee maintenance and preservation of official municipal records, ordinances, and minutes
- Manage public record requests and ensure timely, accurate responses
- Coordinate municipal elections, including voter registration and ballot preparation
- Administer oaths of office and notary public services for city officials
- Develop and implement records management systems compliant with NY State law
- Serve as liaison between city departments and the public regarding records access
- Prepare and submit official reports to city council and state agencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in municipal records management or government administration
- Knowledge of New York State Municipal Home Rule Law and Freedom of Information Law
- Proficiency in records management software (e.g., Laserfiche, SharePoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid New York State Notary Public commission preferred
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced governmental environment
