Responsibilities
- Monitor, detect, and respond to cybersecurity threats across state networks
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on critical systems
- Develop and implement security policies and incident response protocols
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure compliance with state/federal regulations
- Lead security awareness training for state employees
- Analyze security incidents and provide detailed forensic reports
- Stay current with emerging threats and mitigation strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years in cybersecurity with 2+ years in government/public sector
- CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ certification required
- Expertise in SIEM tools (Splunk, ArcSight) and network security protocols
- Experience with NIST frameworks and California DIT security policies
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work under pressure during incidents
- Valid California driver's license and ability to work flexible hours
