Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and monitor advanced security measures for state agency networks and cloud infrastructure
- Lead incident response protocols including threat detection, containment, and forensic analysis
- Develop comprehensive security policies and conduct risk assessments for critical state systems
- Collaborate with state agencies to ensure compliance with Texas cybersecurity regulations (TAC 202)
- Train government personnel on security best practices and emerging threat awareness
- Manage security audits and penetration testing initiatives across state platforms
- Stay current with threat intelligence and implement proactive defense strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years in cybersecurity with 3+ years in government/compliance environments
- Active CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ certification required
- Expertise in network security, cloud security (AWS/Azure), and threat detection tools
- Experience with NIST frameworks and Texas cybersecurity standards
- Strong analytical skills with ability to communicate complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Valid Texas driver's license and ability to pass state background check
