Responsibilities
- Develop and implement county-wide sustainability programs aligned with NC state regulations
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for development projects
- Manage air/water quality monitoring initiatives
- Leverage GIS technology to map environmental hazards and resources
- Coordinate with local businesses on waste reduction strategies
- Prepare regulatory compliance reports for EPA and NC DENR
- Lead community outreach and education campaigns
- Mentor junior staff on environmental best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field
- 5+ years of environmental policy experience
- Valid NC Environmental Professional certification
- Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS and statistical analysis software
- Strong grant writing and budget management skills
- Experience with public sector procurement processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
