Responsibilities
- Develop and implement county-wide sustainability initiatives aligned with North Carolina environmental regulations
- Analyze air quality data and recommend policy improvements for Charlotte's urban core
- Manage compliance reporting for federal EPA and state DENR requirements
- Lead community outreach programs on waste reduction and recycling best practices
- Coordinate interdepartmental environmental projects with Public Works and Planning departments
- Prepare grant proposals to secure funding for environmental infrastructure projects
- Mentor junior staff and conduct environmental impact assessments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in environmental regulatory compliance or sustainability management
- Certification as an Environmental Professional (EP) or similar designation preferred
- Advanced proficiency in GIS mapping and environmental data analysis software
- Proven track record of managing government-funded environmental projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for public reporting
- Knowledge of North Carolina environmental regulations and local ordinances
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
