Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced GIS applications, web maps, and spatial databases using ArcGIS Pro, Python, and SQL.
- Perform complex spatial analysis and geoprocessing to support decision-making for county departments such as Planning, Public Works, and Environmental Services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical GIS solutions.
- Maintain data integrity and ensure the accuracy and accessibility of spatial data assets across the organization.
- Provide technical mentoring and training to junior GIS staff and stakeholders on data interpretation and mapping tools.
- Develop and maintain documentation for GIS systems, including data dictionaries, technical manuals, and user guides.
- Stay current with emerging GIS technologies and best practices to recommend innovative solutions for county operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in GIS analysis, application development, and database management.
- Expert proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap/ArcPro), ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Online (ArcGIS Enterprise).
- Strong programming skills in Python (ArcPy) and/or JavaScript (ArcGIS API for JavaScript).
- Experience with SQL database management and querying.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Valid California driver’s license may be required for site visits.
