Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily administration of the state pension plan, ensuring accuracy in member contributions and benefit disbursements.
- Analyze actuarial data to forecast fund solvency and recommend strategic investment adjustments.
- Ensure full compliance with federal (ERISA) and state government pension laws and regulations.
- Prepare and present complex financial reports to the Board of Trustees and legislative committees.
- Investigate and resolve member inquiries regarding retirement eligibility and benefit calculations.
- Collaborate with internal legal and HR teams to update plan documents and policy procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in government pension administration, public sector finance, or actuarial consulting.
- Strong knowledge of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and state pension codes.
- Proficiency in financial modeling software (Excel, SQL) and pension administration systems.
- Certification (e.g., CFP, CFA, or Enrolled Actuary) is a significant plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume data processing.
