Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain the county’s local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) architecture.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues to minimize downtime.
- Manage user access, security protocols, and data privacy compliance in accordance with state and federal standards.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify technology needs and recommend scalable solutions.
- Oversee the procurement and installation of hardware and software systems.
- Provide technical support and training to county staff on emerging technologies and security best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT systems administration or network engineering.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator are highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP), routing, and switching.
- Proven experience with cloud technologies (Azure/AWS) and virtualization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
