Role Overview
The Senior IT Specialist will be responsible for the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of the City's critical information systems. You will work in a collaborative environment that values innovation, security, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the City's enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless systems.
- Oversee server administration and virtualization technologies to ensure high availability and performance of public services.
- Implement and manage cybersecurity protocols, ensuring compliance with Texas state security standards and federal mandates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify technical requirements and provide solutions for city departments.
- Conduct regular system audits, performance tuning, and disaster recovery planning.
- Provide advanced technical support and mentorship to junior IT staff and end-users.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee the lifecycle of third-party software and hardware contracts.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in systems administration, networking, or IT project management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or CCNP are highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS or Azure) and modern IT service management tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
