Role Overview
As a Senior IT Specialist, you will be responsible for leading technical projects, ensuring system security, and providing high-level technical support to county departments. You will act as a subject matter expert in our IT ecosystem, bridging the gap between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of county-wide IT infrastructure and networks.
- Conduct system audits, security assessments, and performance tuning to ensure optimal functionality.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for complex hardware and software issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify technical requirements and develop scalable solutions.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee contract compliance for IT services and equipment.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation and training materials.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local government data privacy and security regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or network engineering.
- Certification such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, cloud computing (Azure/AWS), and virtualization technologies.
- Proven experience with government project management methodologies and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for translating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
