Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the city's network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security.
- Analyze system performance data to identify bottlenecks and implement necessary optimizations.
- Manage cybersecurity protocols, including firewall configuration, intrusion detection, and compliance with federal and state standards.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex hardware and software issues affecting city operations.
- Collaborate with vendors to procure, install, and maintain IT equipment and software licenses.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and disaster recovery plans.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior IT staff members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in network administration or systems engineering.
- Active certification in CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or similar industry-recognized credentials.
- Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and virtualization technologies.
- Proven ability to manage projects and work under tight deadlines in a public sector environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into user-friendly solutions.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
