Responsibilities
- Network Administration: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the City's wide-area network and local area networks to ensure optimal performance.
- Cybersecurity: Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive government data from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Project Management: Lead IT infrastructure projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues for internal departments and external stakeholders with minimal downtime.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with third-party vendors to procure hardware and software solutions that meet City standards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams and system configurations.
- Compliance: Ensure all IT operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, network engineering, or systems administration.
- Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in network hardware, firewalls, VPNs, and server management (Windows Server and Linux).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of resolving critical system failures.
- License: Valid driver's license required for occasional travel to City facilities.
