Responsibilities
- Network Management: Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the state-wide network architecture to ensure high availability and security.
- Cybersecurity: Implement and monitor advanced security protocols to protect sensitive government data from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- System Administration: Lead the deployment and management of cloud-based infrastructure and on-premise servers using industry-standard technologies.
- Technical Consultation: Provide expert technical guidance and consultation to various state agencies to align technology with business goals.
- Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex IT issues, ensuring minimal downtime for essential government services.
- Project Leadership: Participate in cross-functional projects, acting as a technical lead to guide development teams and vendors.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT systems administration, network engineering, or a related technical role within a government or enterprise environment.
- Certifications: Active certification such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is strongly required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Residency: Must be a resident of the State of Illinois at the time of appointment.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
