Job Overview:
We are responsible for the state's technology services, ensuring that government operations run smoothly and securely. As a Senior Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding state data and optimizing network performance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the state agency's network infrastructure and core systems.
- Monitor network performance and traffic to ensure high availability and security of sensitive government data.
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems to mitigate cyber threats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions.
- Conduct regular system audits and security assessments to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain vendor relationships and manage technology contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and service quality.
- Train junior staff and provide technical guidance on network security best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in network engineering, security, or systems administration.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and wireless technologies.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CISSP are highly preferred.
- Experience working in a government or public sector environment is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen as required by state policy.
