Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of complex IT projects, from initiation to closure, using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
- Act as the primary point of contact for government stakeholders, executive sponsors, and technical teams to align project goals with organizational objectives.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, scope creep, and dependencies to ensure successful delivery.
- Facilitate regular status meetings, sprint reviews, and steering committee updates to maintain transparency.
- Oversee quality assurance processes and ensure all deliverables meet strict government compliance and security standards.
- Manage vendor relationships and contract performance for outsourced technical services.
Qualifications
- Certification: PMP (Project Management Professional) or PgMP (Program Management Professional) certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in IT project management within the public sector or large enterprise environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet) and MS Office Suite.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Methodology: Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall frameworks.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with Oakland and Alameda County government processes and regulations.
