Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and implementation of local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) infrastructure to support county operations.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal and state information security standards, including NIST frameworks and data privacy laws.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for hardware, software, and cloud services to optimize budget and performance.
- Oversee complex IT project lifecycles, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to strict government regulatory standards.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and best practices.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network architecture, security protocols, and disaster recovery plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent military/technical experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure management within the public sector or enterprise environment.
- Certification such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in disaster recovery planning, network security, and cloud technologies (Azure/AWS).
- Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing public sector technology.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
