Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) infrastructures to ensure high availability and performance.
- Configure and troubleshoot enterprise-level network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Oversee network security protocols and conduct regular vulnerability assessments to protect sensitive county data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy network upgrades and support major IT initiatives.
- Monitor network traffic and performance using advanced monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network administrators and IT staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in network engineering or administration.
- Valid certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of Cisco networking equipment, routing, and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).
- Experience with network security solutions and disaster recovery planning.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to obtain a Michigan Public Trust background check.
