Responsibilities
- Develop and implement county-wide public health strategies aligned with CDC and Maryland DHHS guidelines
- Oversee $5M+ federal/state grant programs for chronic disease prevention and emergency response
- Lead cross-departmental initiatives addressing opioid crisis, maternal health, and health equity
- Manage 15-person team including epidemiologists, health educators, and outreach specialists
- Analyze population health data to inform policy recommendations for County Council
- Coordinate with Maryland Department of Health during public health emergencies
- Present health outcomes to stakeholders including hospitals, schools, and community organizations
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field (PhD preferred)
- 7+ years progressive public health management experience in government setting
- Proven expertise in grant writing and managing federal/state public health funds
- Advanced knowledge of HIPAA, CLIA, and Maryland public health regulations
- Experience leading health equity initiatives in diverse urban populations
- Strong quantitative skills with proficiency in SAS, R, or SPSS for data analysis
- Valid Maryland driver's license and ability to travel to county sites
