Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering design, development, and construction oversight of public works projects, including roadways, bridges, drainage systems, and traffic management.
- Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as City of Austin policies and standards.
- Coordinate with internal departments, external consultants, contractors, and community stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and reports to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively to minimize risks and delays.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and quality assurance.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for city leadership and the public.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Transportation Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal engineering or public works.
- Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD), BIM (Revit), and project management software.
- Strong knowledge of Texas DOT standards and local municipal codes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple concurrent projects.
