Responsibilities
- Design and oversee highway/bridge construction projects ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations
- Analyze traffic data and implement traffic flow optimization solutions
- Prepare detailed engineering reports and permit applications for public infrastructure
- Coordinate with local governments and contractors on project timelines and budgets
- Conduct field inspections and ensure construction quality standards
- Utilize AutoCAD, GIS, and traffic simulation software for project modeling
- Manage environmental compliance documentation and permitting processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering (ABET accredited)
- Minimum 3 years of transportation engineering experience (public sector preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency in transportation modeling software (e.g., Synchro, TransModeler)
- Knowledge of MUTCD, FHWA, and MDOT design standards
- Strong project management and budget oversight experience
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills for stakeholder reporting
- Valid Michigan driver's license
