Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive field inspections of public infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and drainage systems
- Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with ADA, OSHA, and city codes
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation with photographic evidence
- Investigate citizen complaints and coordinate corrective actions with contractors
- Train junior inspectors on regulatory requirements and best practices
- Manage project budgets and schedules while ensuring timely completion
- Test construction materials for quality and compliance with specifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of construction inspection experience with government projects
- Valid Kansas Class B Commercial Driver's License
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS mapping systems, and inspection software
- Strong knowledge of Kansas Department of Transportation standards
- Ability to interpret technical blueprints and engineering specifications
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and public presentations
