Role Overview:
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize legacy systems and deliver new web applications that enhance county operations.
Responsibilities
- System Design & Development: Design, develop, and test high-quality software applications using modern frameworks (Java/Spring, React/Angular).
- Legacy Modernization: Lead efforts to refactor and upgrade outdated county systems to improve performance and user experience.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code; conduct and participate in peer code reviews.
- Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, project managers, and other technical staff to translate requirements into technical specifications.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all code and infrastructure adhere to federal, state, and county security standards and privacy regulations.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor application performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues to ensure 99.9% uptime.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and SQL databases (PostgreSQL/Oracle).
- Frontend Skills: Strong experience with JavaScript frameworks (React or Angular) and HTML/CSS.
- Agile/DevOps: Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Clearance: Must pass a standard background check and drug screen (standard for government roles).
