The North Carolina Department of Technology Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator to join our weekend operations team. Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee and maintain critical server infrastructure, virtualization environments, and network systems during weekend shifts to ensure 99.9% uptime.
- Security & Compliance: Conduct regular security audits, patch management, and vulnerability assessments on government systems to meet strict federal and state compliance standards (NIST, FISMA).
- Incident Response: Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of technical incidents and outages that occur outside of standard business hours.
- Backup & Recovery: Manage and validate backup procedures to ensure data integrity and execute disaster recovery plans when necessary.
- Staff Support: Provide Level 3 technical support and guidance to internal government agency staff and weekend support teams.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, runbooks, and change management logs for all weekend operations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration, with at least 2 years specifically in a government or enterprise environment.
- Certifications: Active CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate preferred.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain a State Level Background Investigation; US Citizenship required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Availability: Must be available to work exclusively on weekends (Friday-Sunday) with rotating holidays.
