Responsibilities
- Lead design and implementation of transportation infrastructure projects including highways, bridges, and transit systems
- Conduct traffic studies and analyze data to optimize transportation networks
- Prepare engineering reports, specifications, and cost estimates for capital improvement projects
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and local government agencies during project execution
- Ensure compliance with Caltrans standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct technical reviews of project deliverables
- Develop innovative solutions for complex transportation challenges using modern engineering software
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in California
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and transportation modeling software
- Experience with Caltrans project delivery processes and documentation requirements
- Strong knowledge of federal/state transportation regulations (Title 23, MUTCD)
- Demonstrated project management skills including budget oversight and schedule management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder presentations
