Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive urban planning projects from conception to implementation
- Develop and analyze zoning code amendments, land use policies, and urban design guidelines
- Facilitate community engagement sessions and public hearings
- Prepare environmental impact statements and land use applications
- Collaborate with transportation, parks, and housing departments on integrated planning
- Analyze demographic and economic data to inform planning decisions
- Manage project timelines and budgets for planning initiatives
- Represent the city at regional planning forums and committees
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive urban planning experience in government
- Professional Planner certification (AICP) required
- Expertise in Oregon land use planning laws (SB 1547, ORS chapters)
- Advanced proficiency in GIS software and urban modeling tools
- Proven ability to manage complex public projects with competing stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with data-driven decision-making experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
