Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive urban planning strategies for Detroit's 7 districts
- Lead zoning code revisions and land use policy initiatives
- Manage community engagement sessions across diverse neighborhoods
- Analyze demographic and economic data for development recommendations
- Coordinate with state agencies on infrastructure grant applications
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for City Council approval
- Oversee compliance with federal HUD and EPA regulations
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of urban planning experience in municipal government
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and CAD
- Strong knowledge of Michigan planning statutes and Detroit zoning ordinances
- Experience managing public infrastructure projects ($1M+)
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean record
- Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evening community meetings
