Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive planning studies for mixed-use developments and transit-oriented districts
- Manage zoning code amendments and land use policy updates
- Facilitate community engagement sessions with diverse stakeholders
- Analyze demographic and economic data to inform strategic planning decisions
- Coordinate with county engineering and environmental departments on infrastructure projects
- Prepare professional reports and presentations for Board of Commissioners
- Mentor junior planners and oversee consultant contracts
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive planning experience in municipal or county government
- NC AICP certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS) and urban modeling tools
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated budget oversight
- Excellent written/verbal communication and public speaking abilities
- Experience with Charlotte-Mecklenburg land use regulations
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
