Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive land use plans for Milwaukee's diverse districts
- Analyze zoning regulations and propose amendments to support sustainable growth
- Lead public engagement initiatives and community visioning workshops
- Prepare environmental impact assessments and compliance reports
- Coordinate with transportation and infrastructure departments on city-wide projects
- Manage grant applications and oversee capital improvement budgets
- Present findings and recommendations to the Common Council and community boards
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of municipal planning experience with zoning code expertise
- Professional Planner certification (AICP) preferred
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS) and urban modeling tools
- Strong public speaking and stakeholder management abilities
- Knowledge of Wisconsin's Smart Growth legislation
- Experience with community revitalization and affordable housing initiatives
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license
