Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive urban planning strategies for residential, commercial, and public spaces
- Analyze zoning regulations and propose policy reforms aligned with city growth objectives
- Lead public engagement initiatives to gather community input on development projects
- Prepare technical reports and environmental impact assessments for major infrastructure projects
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on revitalization initiatives and economic development projects
- Manage grant applications and compliance for federally funded urban development programs
- Oversee land use permitting processes and ensure compliance with municipal codes
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in municipal or federal planning roles
- Strong proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and urban modeling tools
- Valid Tennessee driver's license with clean driving record
- Proven ability to manage complex public projects with multiple stakeholders
- Experience with NEPA review processes and federal grant compliance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with presentation abilities
- Professional AICP certification preferred
