Responsibilities
- Manage the processing and verification of pension benefit applications and claims for state retirees.
- Conduct nightly audits of pension records to ensure strict compliance with New York State and federal regulations.
- Resolve complex discrepancies in payroll data, contribution records, and retirement calculations.
- Communicate with retirees, beneficiaries, and legal representatives regarding benefit inquiries and status updates.
- Update and maintain the state pension database with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting for the State Board of Trustees.
- Collaborate with the day shift team to ensure seamless handover of high-priority pension cases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in pension administration, benefits administration, or government payroll processing.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA, FICA, and New York State pension laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Ability to work rotating night shifts (e.g., 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM) as required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills in a high-volume environment.
