Responsibilities
- Design and oversee highway/bridge rehabilitation projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Analyze traffic flow data and implement congestion mitigation strategies
- Prepare environmental impact reports and ensure regulatory compliance
- Coordinate with city planners and transit authorities on integrated transportation solutions
- Manage project budgets and timelines for multi-million dollar infrastructure upgrades
- Mentor junior engineers through Caltrans' professional development program
- Represent Caltrans at public hearings and community outreach events
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited institution
- Valid California Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Minimum 4 years of transportation engineering experience
- Proficiency in traffic modeling software (VISSIM, Synchro)
- Caltrans Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of MUTCD and Caltrans design standards
- Experience with federal grant applications (FHWA/Caltrans)
- Spanish bilingual skills highly desirable
