Responsibilities
- Design and oversee implementation of highway improvement projects ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations
- Conduct traffic impact studies and develop mitigation strategies for transportation networks
- Prepare engineering reports, specifications, and cost estimates for infrastructure projects
- Collaborate with local governments and federal agencies on transportation planning initiatives
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for multiple concurrent assignments
- Review and approve construction plans submitted by external engineering firms
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- Minimum 3 years of professional engineering experience with state/federal transportation projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS mapping software, and traffic modeling tools
- Strong knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO standards, and NCDOT design policies
- Experience with federal funding programs (e.g., FHWA, FTA) and grant applications
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with acceptable driving record
