Responsibilities
- Lead design and implementation of complex transportation infrastructure projects including highways, bridges, and traffic management systems
- Conduct comprehensive traffic studies and impact analyses using advanced modeling software
- Prepare detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and government agencies to ensure project milestones are met
- Oversee construction activities and resolve technical challenges in the field
- Develop innovative solutions for transportation efficiency and safety improvements
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to departmental process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive transportation engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and traffic simulation software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM)
- Demonstrated experience with TxDOT design standards and TxDOT ROW procedures
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex engineering data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present technical information clearly
- Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record
