Responsibilities
- Design and oversee transportation infrastructure projects including highways, bridges, and traffic systems
- Prepare detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Conduct traffic impact studies and transportation modeling for urban development projects
- Coordinate with local governments, contractors, and federal agencies for project approvals
- Ensure compliance with NCDOT standards, FHWA regulations, and environmental requirements
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation for multiple concurrent projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum 5 years of progressive transportation engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency in transportation planning software (TransCAD, VISSIM) and GIS systems
- Demonstrated experience with federal-aid project administration and NEPA documentation
- Strong analytical skills in traffic engineering and highway geometric design
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
