Responsibilities
- Analyze traffic patterns and transit data to optimize urban transportation systems
- Develop comprehensive transportation plans for major infrastructure projects
- Collaborate with federal, state, and local government agencies on policy initiatives
- Prepare environmental impact assessments and grant applications
- Conduct public outreach sessions to gather community input
- Utilize GIS software for spatial data modeling and visualization
- Manage project budgets and compliance with state/federal regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in transportation planning
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and traffic modeling tools
- Valid Illinois driver's license
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with public sector procurement processes
- Knowledge of federal transportation regulations (FTA, FHWA)
