Responsibilities
- Screen passengers, carry-on baggage, and cargo for prohibited items using X-ray machines, advanced imaging technology, and metal detectors.
- Conduct thorough pat-downs and physical inspections of individuals and their belongings when screening technology indicates potential threats.
- Interact professionally and courteously with the traveling public to ensure a positive security experience and alleviate passenger anxiety.
- Operate and monitor screening equipment, identifying potential threats while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and situational awareness.
- Adhere to all TSA security protocols, regulations, and procedures, including TSA Officer Basic Training requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkpoint area, ensuring equipment is functioning correctly.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow officers and supervisors to maintain an efficient and secure screening environment.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a rigorous background investigation, including a criminal history check, drug screen, and medical evaluation.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, perform physical duties such as lifting and bending, and meet visual acuity standards.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Education: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Attitude: Professional demeanor, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to customer service.
