Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive urban planning strategies aligned with Minneapolis 2040 Plan goals
- Analyze zoning applications, conduct site reviews, and prepare detailed planning reports
- Facilitate community engagement sessions and public hearings to gather stakeholder input
- Collaborate with engineering, environmental, and economic development teams on integrated projects
- Monitor compliance with municipal codes and land use regulations
- Prepare grant proposals and manage federal/state funding allocations
- Utilize GIS software for spatial analysis and mapping urban development patterns
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years of progressive urban planning experience in municipal government
- Expertise in zoning ordinances, land use regulations, and environmental review processes
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS) and urban planning analytics tools
- Strong project management skills with ability to handle multiple concurrent initiatives
- Excellent written/verbal communication and public speaking abilities
- Valid Minnesota driver's license with clean driving record
- Knowledge of Minneapolis neighborhoods and regional planning frameworks
