Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain all official city records, ordinances, and legislative documents
- Manage municipal elections, voter registration, and election administration processes
- Act as official custodian of the city seal and authenticate public documents
- Provide administrative support to the City Council and mayor's office
- Implement and maintain records management systems ensuring compliance with state laws
- Suppose staff in the Clerk's department including permit issuance and licensing
- Coordinate public records requests and ensure timely responses
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in municipal government or public records management
- Thorough knowledge of Illinois election laws and municipal regulations
- Expertise in records management systems and document preservation protocols
- Proven ability to manage complex administrative operations and staff
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
- Must be a resident of Chicago at time of appointment
