Job Description
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and proactive IT Support Specialist to join our vital government operations team in Detroit, MI. Due to an urgent expansion of our digital infrastructure and a critical need to modernize legacy systems, we are looking for a dedicated professional to ensure our government services remain uninterrupted and secure.
In this role, you will be the technical cornerstone of our department, providing essential support to internal staff and ensuring the stability of critical public-facing applications. Responsibilities
- Provide tier-1 and tier-2 technical support for hardware, software, and network issues across the department.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems, including printer malfunctions, software conflicts, and connectivity issues.
- Configure, deploy, and manage end-user devices, including laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
- Maintain and update the Help Desk ticketing system, ensuring accurate documentation of all issues and resolutions.
- Collaborate with network administrators to implement security patches and perform routine system backups.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal and state data privacy and cybersecurity regulations.
- Conduct user training sessions on new software tools and security best practices.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience in IT support, help desk, or a similar government role.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals are highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office 365, and Active Directory.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and obtain necessary security clearance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize multiple technical requests under pressure.
