Responsibilities
- System Administration: Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot complex IT systems, servers, and network infrastructure for city departments.
- Cybersecurity: Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive government data from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Project Management: Lead IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
- Technical Support: Provide advanced technical guidance and support to internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Compliance: Ensure all IT operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT systems administration or network engineering within a government or enterprise environment.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are highly preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in Python, SQL, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure). Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Availability: Ability to work occasional overtime or weekends during system maintenance windows.
