Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, paving, and construction site preparation
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (backhoes, graders, dump trucks) safely
- Conduct routine inspections and repairs of public infrastructure
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and municipal regulations
- Assist in emergency response during severe weather events
- Collaborate with engineering teams on project specifications
- Maintain accurate work logs and equipment records
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid New York State driver's license with clean record
- Minimum 2 years construction/public works experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Residency within Erie County required
