Job Overview:
As a City Carrier Associate, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of mail and packages to customers on a designated route. You will ensure the highest standards of customer service and safety while operating a USPS vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Mail: Sort and deliver mail and packages to residential and business customers along an assigned route in a safe and timely manner.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers, answering questions and resolving delivery issues efficiently.
- Vehicle Operation: Safely operate a USPS vehicle (van or truck) on a daily basis, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Mail Handling: Collect and process postage-due and dead mail, as well as manage PO Boxes.
- Route Management: Maintain an accurate and efficient route map, adapting to daily changes and ensuring all stops are completed.
- Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean driving record and a safe work environment for yourself and the public.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and fitness for duty examination.
- Driver’s License: Valid state driver’s license required (CDL not required for City Carrier positions).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 70 lbs repeatedly and perform physical tasks in all weather conditions.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
