Responsibilities
- Sort and organize mail efficiently before and during delivery rounds to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Deliver mail to customers along an assigned route, ensuring safe and secure handling of all items.
- Obtain signatures for certified and registered mail and obtain proof of delivery when necessary.
- Collect and process payments for C.O.D. (Cash on Delivery) items and return undeliverable mail to the Post Office.
- Maintain vehicle condition and ensure the safety of the delivery vehicle, reporting any maintenance needs.
- Interact professionally with customers to resolve issues and answer inquiries regarding mail services.
- Adhere to safety protocols at all times to ensure personal safety and the safety of the public.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. Citizen.
- Valid Driver's License required (commercial license preferred but not always mandatory depending on specific station needs).
- Ability to lift, carry, and push packages weighing up to 70 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
- Good physical stamina to stand, walk, and bend for long periods, often in all weather conditions.
- Basic computer literacy for scanning packages and accessing delivery data.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex routing instructions.
- Pass a background check and a drug screening as part of the hiring process.
