Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain water distribution mains, service lines, fire hydrants, and valves.
  • Perform leak detection, line locating, and pressure testing using state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Install, repair, and replace water meters and appurtenances efficiently.
  • Maintain and clear storm drains and catch basins to ensure proper drainage and public safety.
  • Operate heavy machinery, backhoes, excavators, and hydraulic tools safely and in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Inspect infrastructure, document work orders accurately, and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Respond to emergency water main breaks and service outages promptly to minimize service disruption.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred; candidates without a license will be considered if willing to obtain one.
  • Previous experience in municipal public works, utility maintenance, or construction is highly desirable.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting 50+ lbs, working in confined spaces, and operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and shift schedules, including nights and weekends.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, plumbing, or reading blueprints is a plus.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
